I. Bukhgolts Sguare

The Omsk fortress was founded in 1716 at the confluence of the Irtysh and Ob Rivers, on the spot where the expedition under the leadership of lieutenant colonel Ivan Dmitrievich Bukhgolts disembarked the same year. It was him who gave his name to the square. In the same place were erected a gun with cores and a monument to I. Bukhgolts in the form of enormous ball. Next to the square there is a river-boat station that reminds of a captain's bridge of a ship.
