Puppet Theatre

The first performance organized by the Tyumen Puppet Theatre took place in 1945. The present glass and concrete building of the theatre with an auditorium big enough to accumulate 400 people was constructed in 1972. Since the foundation of the theatre the Tyumen puppeteers have been on tour in the major cities of Russia, France and Poland. Despite its name, the Puppet Theatre does not confine its repertoir to children's performances only; it also stages adult plays based on classical dramatic works. Many theatre's performances received top awards in different festivals and contests. During the reconstruction works of 2002 the theatre was equipped with state-of-the-art illumination and audio systems.
